New to Web3? Here is what you need to know to use AIMS.
What is a Wallet?
A crypto wallet is your digital identity on the blockchain. It holds your assets and signs transactions. AIMS uses your wallet address as your account — no email or password needed. Popular wallets: MetaMask, Rabby, Coinbase Wallet.
Connecting Your Wallet
Click "Connect Wallet" on any AIMS page. Your browser wallet will ask you to confirm the connection. Once connected, your wallet address appears in the top navigation bar.
What is a Signature?
To log in, AIMS asks you to sign a message with your wallet. This proves you own the address without revealing your private key. It is like a password that cannot be stolen or phished.
What is a Smart Contract?
A smart contract is a program that runs on the blockchain. AIMS uses smart contracts to record copyright attestations — once a skill is registered, the record is permanent and anyone can verify it.
What is Gas?
Gas is a small fee paid to the blockchain network to process your transaction. On Base (the network AIMS uses), gas fees are typically less than $0.01. IP Vault registrations require a small gas fee.
What is Base?
Base is a Layer 2 blockchain built on Ethereum by Coinbase. It offers fast, low-cost transactions while inheriting Ethereum's security. AIMS contracts are deployed on Base.
Do I Need Tokens?
To use AIMS relay and marketplace features, you only need a wallet — no tokens required. To register IP (on-chain attestation), you need a small amount of ETH on Base for gas fees (~$0.01 per registration).
